“Hillside Christian School has been a great fit for our family! I have had 2 children graduate from there after attending grades 1-8. They are now currently enrolled in high school. I feel that Hillside more than prepared them for academic success in their high school careers.
I currently have a 7th grade student at Hillside who has been attending since kindergarten. I love the 4 day school week and the small classroom size that allows the teacher to spend one on one time with our child when needed. I love that he learns more about Jesus every day. The students have frequent opportunities to do service projects in our community. This safe, warm, Christian environment is exactly where I want my child to be when he is not at home. I am very thankful for Hillside Christian School!”

“Charlyn, Principal/Teacher, is passionate about teaching. She wants our children to succeed and has a keen eye for where kids are thriving and when they need her extra attention. Every month she takes the kids to the pool to swim, the library to check out books, the Nursing Home to play games and do crafts with the residents, and Head Start to read to the children.
The school is safe. You can trust Charlyn, and in a small school we know the students and their parents. Charlyn whole-heartedly believes in the power of lasting effects of Adventist Education. She wants Jesus to be the center of our children’s lives.
The school is also locked during the day and there is a dedicated team that has put in several additional safety measures to keep our children safe.
Charlyn also pays close attention to detail and puts in A LOT of extra effort to make things special for the kids – birthdays, holidays, fun days like 100 days of school, and even April Fool’s Day! Charlyn wants the kids to have fun while they learn so she does special activities that go along with the stories, like making a frozen banana chocolate pop because that is Pokey the Bear’s favorite treat! Or teaching Science with toothpicks and marshmallows.
Charlyn also provides parents with a weekly report so there are no surprises at parent/teacher conferences. There is also student aid available – all you have to do is apply! Do not let money be the reason you don’t consider Hillside.
Charlyn is very organized. She plans ahead and keeps parents informed with a monthly calendar. Don’t like packing lunches?! A free hot lunch is provided every Wednesday and there is no school on Friday so you only have to pack three lunches for the week! And when the public school system is making up snow days into mid-June, Hillside students are already well into enjoying their summer! They make up snow days on Friday, when they normally don’t have school. So they stay on track with the school calendar!
From Christmas programs, Education Fair, Science Fair and field trips to Christmas parties, trips to the sledding hill, and hot chocolate – Charlyn treats the kids as if they were her own and loves to have fun with them! A one room school allows for benefits you don’t get in bigger schools – like older students working with the younger ones. It’s a great learning experience for all ages!
Charlyn wants the students to try their best, so she will creatively challenge them. Our test scores consistently come back at or above average in comparison to other students.
Charlyn believes in and supports her students in school and long after they are her students. She is passionate about teaching and is proud of what her students can accomplish! There are SO many more reasons that we love Hillside! I encourage you to come check out our school. You’ll be glad you did!”
